This issue highlights color trends for 2010 and relates them to beaded jewelry designs.
One of the first things that attracts people to jewelry is color.
Fortunately, with so many colorful beads to choose from, we have many ways to incorporate color into our beaded jewelry designs to give them more meaning to the wearer.
I'll show you resources to use for incorporating color into your beaded jewelry designs.
You'll be able to keep your jewelry current with fashion trends and make jewelry that has more meaning to you and/or your customers, and therefore, a treasure forever.

The Color Authority
Pantone LLC; (Pantone), is the world-renowned authority on color. It's owned by X-Rite, Incorporated (the makers of color dyes).
Pantone sets color schemes that are used in designs for most everything: home decor, electronics, comestics, fashion and fashion accessories.
When top fashion designers design their fall and spring clothing lines, they look to Pantone's color systems first for what's hot.
As a jewelry maker or designer, this translates to an awesome tool that we can use to design jewelry.
There is a lot of information available at Pantone.com . And, a lot of it is free!
Color of the Year 2010
Each year Pantone names a color of the year and for 2010, it has named turquoise as color of the year.
That's great news for us because we have a ready made gemstone for this color choice: Turquoise.
For centuries the stone turquoise has been used in jewelry making. On Making-Beaded-Jewelry.com I've profiled turquoise in a Gemstone Chart along with many other gemstones.

Two other gemstones that have turquoise hues are amazonite and aquamarine. Try adding these stones to your designs, especially for those customers who only associate turquoise with Southwestern jewelry.

Watching shopping networks can give us great insights into what people are buying. I watch a lot of QVC and HSN, the two largest home shopping networks.
From watching a ton of jewelry shows over the past few years and based on some of the host's comments, here are the five most popular colors, ever.

There are a few color schemes that have stood the test of time. When in doubt use one of these color combos for putting together beads for a jewelry design.

Neutral Colors
These colors act as neutrals: green, black, brown, gray and white.
