Beaded Jewelry Artist Naz Garces

Meet beaded jewelry artist Naz Garces...The jewelry artist who won the July 2011 Beaded Jewelry Making Contest on making-beaded-jewelry.com!

1) When did you start making jewelry and why?

I started making jewelry two years ago.

I created an account on Multiply.com intending to sell flip flops from the USA. The merchandise was taking too long to arrive. So, I decided to put up just about anything on my site just to keep it running.

So, I thought of making my own bangle made of safety pins and glass beads. After the positive response of my friends I continued to learn new jewelry styles and jewelry making techniques through the web and beading books.

2) Where do you get your inspiration from for making jewelry?

I get inspired by what I see around me. I am by nature curious as to how things are put together. Whenever I would see anything handmade I would find my self examining it to figure out how it was done. I would always end up saying, Hey, I can do that!?

3) What is/are your favorite jewelry making technique(s)?

I love macrame knots and simple free style wire works. There are just a lot of variations you can do once you have learned the basics of how to macrame.

4) What is/are your most favorite bead(s) to work with?

I like glass and wood beads. Aside from the fact that they are very economical, they come in many various designs and colors.

5) Jewelry Making Wisdom

I do not go around trying to find out what's the latest trend. I make jewelry designs that can withstand fashion trends.

I try to create something that my customers can wear at present and in the future. It's more practical that way!

How Beaded Jewelry Artist Naz Garces
Started Selling Beaded Jewelry

1) When did you start selling jewelry?

I started selling my jewelry about two years ago.

2) What do you most enjoy about selling jewelry?

Aside from I what I earn from selling my jewelry, I love the feedback from the people who wear the jewelry that I have created. And the perks that come along with jewelry making like winning contests like this one! Yay! :)

3) What type of jewelry customer do you sell to?

My customers are fashion conscious and trendy. They like simple but unique jewelry too.

4) Beaded Jewelry Artist Naz Garces would like to share...

I live in the Philippines, but through the internet I am able to sell my jewelry to other countries as far away as the USA, Canada, Japan, Germany and the UK. I never really imagined that my jewelry making could go that far!

I love to make bead jewelry and I hope in the near future I can teach this craft too.
