What to Tell Us About the Design

Tell us at least the following:

  • Your inspiration for making the jewelry design

For example: I made this triple strand necklace I call Snowflakes on Ice to remind me of the day my family spent in the local mountains. There was fresh snow on the ground when we got there and it snowed again overnight. Every time I wear this necklace I remember that wonderful weekend.

  • The type of beads and findings used in the design

For example: For a pendant I used a crystal AB 50mm barouque crystal bead. Then I used 6 and 8mm potato pearls and 4mm round crystals in crystal shade for the necklace strands.

  • Name the beaded jewelry making technique(s) used to make the design

For example: I used a wrapped wire loop to attach the pendant to the bottom necklace strand of beads. I strung the three strands on beading wire in a random pattern and attached the strands to a toggle clasp by crimping crimp beads.

You do not have to write jewelry making instructions, but you can if you like.

One photo, or all the photos together, must essentially show how the jewelry design was made. A viewer should be able to look at the photo(s) and be able to recreate the design. Remember, we're talking easy beginner projects.

Here's a quick and easy tutorial for taking great photos.

Eligible Jewelry Making Techniques

Use bead stringing, wire jewelry and knotted jewelry making techniques that would be suitable for a beginner jewelry maker...

  • Crimping with beading wire, choker crimps, cord ends, etc.
  • Basic wire work such as simple wire loops, wrapped wire loops, etc.
  • Other wire work such as beginner chain maille weaves, wire wrapping, etc.
  • Simple and basic knots such as overhand, lark's head, square, surgeon knots, etc.
