What is a Friendship Necklace?

A necklace made with friendship stones, or charms proclaiming friendship. It is popular to give or exchange one in honor of Friendship Day.

Friendship Necklace

Though it can be made from many materials, a beaded friendship necklace is usually a simple necklace made of chain, leather or other stringing material and friendship stones.

What are Friendship Stones?

Namely, the gemstones lapis lazuli and tigers eye.

Traditionally, tigers eye was given as a gift between romantic partners. Today, it has become one of the symbols given on International Friendship Day.

Since ancient times Lapis has been regarded by many people, including metaphysicians, as a stone of truthful communication or friendship.

Friendship Celebrations

Though friendship stones or necklaces may certainly be given at anytime, a lot of people give and/or exchange them on days set aside to celebrate our wonderful treasure called friendship...

  • International Friendship Month - February
  • Friendship Day - first Sunday of August
  • Women's Friendship Day - third Sunday of August
  • Old Friends, New Friends Week - third week of May
