Jewelry Making Inspiration

I made this glass bead bracelet as a gift for a woman in Turkey that I'd never met. I wanted it to be classic but slightly edgy, with a little bling.

I love to travel overseas and have picked up beads to use for bead jewelry projects. In this bead jewelry design I used Lampwork beads from here (Canada)...purple with red swirl...blue goldstone from Germany, hematite spacers, 4mm and 6mm Swarovski bicone beads for the bling and silver bead caps on the lampwork beads.

Jewelry Making Technique

Bead Stringing with Beading Wire

Originally, this glass bead bracelet had a different toggle clasp and the bracelet was too big when I took it there (Turkey) so I decided I'd bring it home to rebuild it.

It now has a clasp I bought in Turkey. While visiting my new friend there we shopped the market together, so it makes it a little more special.

She loved it! It's pretty, but not too girly, just enough edge (less hematite) to work with the tattoo on her arms.

I add the bead dangle to the loop (as I do for my own). After trying various places to attach a bead dangle to a bracelet I have found the toggle loop to be the easiest to fasten, and it keeps the clasp tight enough.

Being such a short bead dangle, adding it to T-bar end made it almost impossible to slide the bar into the loop.

Jewelry Making Beads

I used 19 strand Beadalon .024 diameter gauge beading wire, since it's heavy, and silver 2mm crimps. I used two crimp beads at each end with a size 6/0 hematite seed bead between them since a 4 mm Swarovski won't allow for a second pass of the beading wire.

Swarovski crystals in siam and crystal heliotrope play on the blue sparkle of the stone beads and the purple of the other.
