Jewelry Making Inspiration

This was a special request from my favorite customer, my mother. She found a stretch bracelet with these rectangular green glass beads on it at a flea market. The bracelet didn’t fit, but she loved the beads.

So of course she bought it for the beads and gave it to me to 'create something' for her. I mixed the green beads with some of the other beads and findings I had and mom ended up with a new necklace.

Jewelry Making Supplies

Materials Used for This Necklace:
6 24mm x 15mm glass beads
1 7mm flat round bead as a focal point
8 4mm x 8mm spacer beads
2 3mm x 6mm spacer beads for finishing the ends of the bead design
2 4mm round metal beads also for finishing the ends of the bead design
Silver tone chain
Lobster claw clasp
8.5 inch 20 gauge wire
1 tiny teardrop bead

Jewelry Making Instructions

How I Made It:
I used one length of 20 gauge wire, added all of the beads, and then looped the ends.

Then, I attached about 7.5 inches of chain to each of the looped ends of the beaded wire. I used a fairly sturdy and strong chain since the glass beads are quite heavy.

Finally, I added a lobster clasp, a little extra chain as an extension and a little metal teardrop bead to finish off the extension. The necklace measures about 24 inches plus a 1.5 inch extension.
