Wire Jewelry Magazine Review:
Step by Step Wire Jewelry

Are you looking for a great wire jewelry magazine? End your search here. Read my review of Step by Step Wire Jewelry magazine.

Step by Step Wire Jewelry Magazine Review

Step by Step Wire Jewelry is a project and information packed bi-monthly magazine about making wire jewelry. It's filled with wire projects for jewelry makers of all skill levels, from beginning to advanced.

I've been a subscriber since its premier issue in 2005. I always look forward to receiving my subscription.

Even if I don't get around to making a project from a particular issue, I love seeing what other wire jewelry artists have created. It's filled with inspiration!

Currently, Denise Peck is the editor-in-chief. She's a fellow jewelry artist who has also written a book on wire jewelry making, Wire Style: 50 Unique Jewelry Designs.

To my knowledge, Step by Step Wire Jewelry is the only published jewelry making magazine dedicated solely to working with wire. ( Wire Artist Jeweller magazine was published from 1998 to 2004, but it's now only available through back issues.)

Wire Jewelry Making Techniques

You can learn so many wire jewelry making techniques from Step by Step Wire Jewelry.

Here's just a few of the techniques that you'll learn for wire jewelry making...

  • Wire Working Basics
  • How to Make Findings
  • How to Wire Wrap Jewelry
  • How to Make Chainmaille Jewelry
  • How to Texture Wire
  • How to Make Charms
  • Wire Weaving
  • And so much more!

Wire Jewelry Making Instructions

The magazine delivers perhaps twelve to fifteen beginner to advanced wire jewelry projects in each issue.

Each wire project is illustrated with photos, usually taken by the project's author.

A final project photo is taken by a professional photographer (I'm trying to get my photos on making-beaded-jewelry.com up to this high quality level).

The step by step jewelry making instructions are well written in short, succinct steps that are usually easy to follow.

Wire Jewelry Magazine Features

Step by Step Wire Jewelry also has a few regular features...

  • A column on various wire jewelry subjects written by well-known jewelry artist Connie Fox, who has a studio in San Diego, CA
  • A section on wire basics, which has pictures and instructions on the essentials of making wire jewelry. Beginners will find this section very helpful.
  • A product news section, which keeps us up-to-date with the latest bead and wire products.
  • A gallery of wire jewelry designs submitted by readers. This is an especially inspirational section.

Here are a couple of wire jewelry designs that I've been inspired to make using wire jewelry making techniques that I learned from Step by Step Wire Jewelry.
