Jewelry Making Inspiration

I became inspired to use the beauty of the land to create an alternative work of art. The vivid Wyoming nighttime sky combined with the picturesque scenery of the West manifested into an artistic vision that I call my Wild West Jewelry© Collection.

The great majestic Rockies are my inspiration for all my pieces. I include a description with each piece of my jewelry which tells a brief story of what drove me to create that particular necklace.

The Pow Wow Drums beaded necklace includes this description: "The Plains Indians drum tones are an integral part of their dances, enabling them to harness the power of the earth mother. Moss agate with gold accents."

Jewelry Making Technique

I used moss agate stones that have natural golden accents that I found while hiking in the mountains. I used a wirewrapping technique to wrap the moss agate bead.

Jewelry Making Challenge

The challenge I found myself with was to find a person locally that would assist me in tumbling my rough moss agate bead.

Nicely Done Wire Wrapping on a Bead!
by: Wanda

Emmy,

I really like how you kept the necklace portion simple and understated so that the wire wrapped pendant would be seen first by admirers.

Sometimes simple jewelry designs make the greatest statement as you have shown here. Simply gorgeous...And good wirewrapping!

For other visitors...Emmy found someone to tumble her found gemstone. You may not be so lucky, but you are not out of luck. Use a piece of jewelry making equipment called a tumbler.

Tumblers can tumble stones and jewelry. They will smooth rough edges as well as polish stones and metal to a shiny finish.

You can purchase a tumbler from large full service online bead stores, lapidary shops and major jewelry supply suppliers.

Wire wrapping skills can be easily learned with this tutorial on How to Make a Wire Wrapped Pendant. It has step by step photos that show you how to wire wrap almost any roundish bead. Enjoy!

Thanks Emmy for sharing this beautiful design with us.
