Beading Board
and Beading Mat How To

A beading board makes it easy to design your own jewelry. Find out how a bead design board helps you to learn how to string beads!

How to Use a Bead Design Board

How can a beading design board help you bead successful beading designs?

I can list five ways. But best of all, the process of stringing beads is done more quickly and your jewelry design skills improve rapidly!

A beading design board greatly increases your success of well designed bead jewelry.

Beading Board

Bead boards help you to easily...

  1. Layout Jewelry Designs
  2. Change out Colors
  3. Measure Necklace Length
  4. String Multi-Strand Designs
  5. Prevent Beads From Rolling

When Designing Your Own Jewelry...

  1. Center your bead jewelry design at the number zero and measure length using numbers and dashes along the sides.
  2. Use channels for laying out beads. The curve allows the piece to drape naturally versus being too linear.
  3. Use tray insets for holding beads and findings.

The board prevents beads from rolling around because it is flocked. Numbers along the side of the board are in increments of one inch.

Use these jewelry making instructions to learn how to use a bead design board as you learn how to string beads.

How to Use Beading Mat

Beading Mat

As an alternative, when you feel comfortable designing jewelry, you can also use a beading mat.

Its made of a material called Velux (like blankets). Its very cushion-y, doubled sided and prevents beads from rolling around.

Or, you could simply use a terry cloth hand towel.

Whether you use a beading mat or board, I wish you many successful designs!
